Europe's ecommerce in 2013 and the outlook for 2014 and 2015

RetailMeNot, the world leader in digital coupons, released an interesting infographic summarizing ecommerce data in 2013 and the outlook for 2014/2015.

The study does not take into account online sales of tickets, vacations, insurance, financial services, and catering.
We have a very varied situation in Europe in particular:

  • British first on the list with spending per buyer of 1267 euros
  • Germans spend 1136 euros
  • French people spend 908 euros
  • Italians lowest in seventh place with 442 euros

We have repeatedly pointed out ( also in other articles ) how our country is still lagging behind in this sector...but precisely because of these characteristics it is one of the countries for which there is expected ( the data show it ) to be greater growth. In fact, in 2014 it is estimated that there will be an increase of 19% in online purchases in Italy compared to 16% in France, 15% in Great Britain, 22% in Germany and 22.6 in Poland.

In Italy, only 20% of those who browse online, make purchases compared to 52% in the United States and France's 52% and Britain's 67%.

Finally, the preferred methods of payment are analyzed: in the United States, France, and Great Britain credit cards prevail while in Italy there is still a large number of those who prefer prepaid cards, while in Sweden ( where online commerce is quite mature anyway ) bank transfers are still preferred
